ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Employees at fast food restaurants in St. Louis are planning to walk off the job on Tuesday to rally for $15 dollars an hour wages.

Workers around the area are encouraged to go on strike to demand higher wages. A rally is expected to gather at 11:45 a.m. at the Schnucks parking lot on Lindell Boulevard.

It's part of the national Fight for 15 campaign, a group that's pushing for all U.S. states to have $15 minimum wage. The group says wages have not increased from the federal minimum wage for St. Louis McDonald's employees in 12 years.

Some of the employees expected to walk off the job are those at the McDonald's on Lindell Boulevard in the Central West End and janitors at Service Employees International Union. Community leaders are also expected at the rally.

It's one of many such protests happening around the country on Tuesday.
