FENTON, Mo. (KMOX) - Firefighters across the greater St. Louis area have been battling a number of reported fires Friday morning. A large fire at the former Stratford Inn in Fenton, Missouri was made difficult on crews due to frozen hydrants.

The fire began on the second story of the abandoned hotel next to Interstate 44 around 6 a.m., according to our traffic reporter Rodger Brand. He says crews were having trouble getting water out of the hydrants in the area because they were frozen.
Temperatures in the greater St. Louis area were in the single digits or below zero this morning.
The fire caused some extra traffic issues in the area as well. But it wasn't the only fire to happen in the area.
There was another fire this morning at a Burger King near Lindbergh and New Halls Ferry.
It all comes after a man died in a house fire in north St. Louis Thursday night. Officials say a father and son lived in the two-story home in Walnut Park East and although the son was able to jump out a window to escape flames, the father died in the home.
