St. Louis firefighters combat flames at North City church

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - St. Louis firefighters were dispatched to combat a fire at a church in North City Monday morning.

The fire at the church, which was located on the intersection of North 19th Street and Newhouse Avenue, led to at least one wall partially collapsing inward, according KMOX News Reporter Sean Malone.


According to St. Louis Fire Department, at around 11:44 a.m., the fire became a three-alarm fire, with smoke showing through the roof and bell tower and the fire extending through the roof.

At 2:10 p.m. Monday afternoon, the department announced the fire was under control and say that four vacant buildings also sustained minor fire involvement.

The department says that at the moment, no injuries were immediately reported.
