SAINT LOUIS, MO (KMOX) - We're heading toward what could be the start of dangerous heat wave this weekend. Still, there's no comparison to 1936, one of the deadliest summers on record. An estimated 5,000 people died across the US. In the St. Louis region, the final death toll from extreme heat was 479, including 29 children. KMOX's Megan Lynch, Co-Host of Total Information AM spoke with author Geoff Williams who has chronicled those sweltering months in his new book “The Summer of Death: The Great Heat Wave of 1936".
