Sumner High School has been on the chopping block for years as St. Louis Public Schools continues to shutter low-attendance schools to reduce costs and create efficiencies. Few schools have had more vocal defenders than the alumni of Sumner High School.
The list of famous alumni, both students and staff, is a who's-who of Grammy Award winners, Kennedy Center honorees, rock 'n roll hall of famers, champion athletes, pilots, scientists and comedians.

Needless to say, the school is extremely important to the neighborhood and Sumner alumni who've been fighting to keep the school open.
