ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The highest ranking officer in the St. Louis Police Department was involved in a street level arrest.

According to a statement, at approximately 3:35 p.m., Chief Robert Tracy and a sergeant spotted a vehicle connected to a robbery in the 5200 block of Delmar following Saturday's funeral for fallen officer David Lee.

Chief Tracey and sergeant exited their police SUV and detained a man and woman at gunpoint. The man admitted to being involved in the robbery in question but the investigation remains on going.

In a statement, Chief Tracy said while he may have been in the right place at the right time to make this arrest, "the brave men and women of SLMPD do this type of work every single day."

Officers later located another vehicle involved and seized a firearm. No charges have been announced at this time.
