Police arrest 21-year-old man accused of killing girlfriend, setting body on fire

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department have arrested a 21-year-old man in Wentzville who is facing charges of killing his girlfriend and setting her body on fire.

Zaveon Mills, 21, is facing charges of first-degree murder and armed criminal action in relation to the death of his girlfriend 21-year-old Kiya Holt-Biggs of Granite City Illinois.

According to police, District 6 officers responded to the 1200 block of Switzer around 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 19.

When they arrived, they found the body of Holt-Biggs on a parking lot. Holt-Biggs was found not conscious, not breathing, and had been set on fire.

EMS responded and pronounced Holt-Biggs dead at the scene.

According to the probable cause statement, surveillance video showed Mills pull Holt-Biggs out of the trunk of his sedan-style vehicle in an empty lot, slit Holt-Biggs throat and drove away.

An hour later, Mills would return to the lot, this time arriving on foot. Mills would allegedly use an aerosol can as a an accelerant to light the body on fire before leaving the scene.

Witnesses tell police that Mills was acting erratic, hiding his hands and was in possession of bags containing Holt-Biggs purse, wallet, identification and bloody clothes.

Holt-Biggs' family and other individuals reported Mills as abusive, with another female saying she had an active of protection against Mills out of St. Charles County.
