A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the St. Louis metro area for nearly all of Monday. It goes into effect at midnight and continues until 6 p.m.
Accuweather meteorologist Matt Benz said the main issue is freezing rain and sleet coating roads and sidewalks.
"Not a lot of ice, perhaps a tenth of an inch, maybe a couple of tenths" he said. "Not a lot of wind, so that's some good news, but roads and sidewalks are going to be in tough shape."
Benz said with the light winds and small accumulations, power outages will likely be minimal.
MODOT and I-DOT both said they'll have crews ready to tackle whatever conditions pop up on the roadways. Stay tuned to KMOX for continuous coverage of the storm.
