ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The international cuisine at two St. Louis restaurants has been awarded rare honors for its authenticity by the Thai government.
Chao Baan, the authentic Thai restaurant located in The Grove and King & I, St. Louis’ first Thai restaurant were recently awarded the prestigious Thai SELECT award. It's given by the Ministry of Commerce Royal Thai Government to guarantee the authenticity of Thai restaurants in the U.S.
King & I is the only restaurant in Missouri to be awarded the Thai SELECT Signature award, the highest level of recognition, while Chao Baan received the Thai SELECT Classic, the second-highest level of recognition, for the first time.
King & I’s Thai SELECT Signature recognition denotes authentic Thai dishes with premium quality, refined decor and excellent service. Chao Baan’s Thai SELECT Classic distinction recognizes Thai restaurants of excellent quality with very authentic cuisine and noteworthy service. The Ministry of Commerce, a section of the Royal Thai Government, awards the Thai SELECT annually through an American-based committee who visits and reviews Thai restaurants across the U.S.
