SAINT LOUIS, MO (KMOX) - A St. Louis magnet school gets top scores in a national ranking of public high schools released this morning. In its 2026-2027 Best High Schools rankings, U.S. News & World ReportU.S. News & World Report places Metro Academic and Classical High School 22nd in the nation. "Out of nearly 18,000 high schools, we think that's incredible," says LaMont Jones, Managing Editor, Education.
Also noteworthy, Collegiate School Of Medicine and Bioscience in the St. Louis Public School District ranks 90th in the nation. "These schools, and they're doing a great job, not just educating some of their students, but all their students which tend to have a broader mix of socioeconomics, many, many factors that can make students harder to educate."
Clayton High School ranked 308th. Parkway West 438th.
The rankings are based on six metrics including student achievement on state-required assessments, graduation rates, and how effectively they serve all students, including underserved populations.
