ST. LOUIS (KMOX)--The St. Louis Zoo is rolling out its new security screener.

The system, called EVOLV, is looking for concealed weapons that are not allowed in the park. Zoo officials are currently recording the data as people pass through to make sure everything is working properly.

Glenn Eidman, the Zoo's Director of Security, says the technology is the same ones is used at Disney World and at the stadium where St. Louis CITY SC plays.

Eidman says the Zoo can get about 3,800 people an hour through it.

When fully implemented, the screeners will be at operating at both entrances to the Zoo.

Guests with large bags, strollers, wagons, soft-sided coolers, wheelchairs, backpacks and purses may be directed by a security attendant to a bag-search after passing through the automatic detection system.
