How curious are St. Louisans about artificial intelligence and how to use it?

The A.I. Summit set to kick off STL TechWeek is being moved from the auditorium at World Wide Technology's headquarters to the America's Center convention complex due to interest. You're hearing that first from KMOX.

"You might as well call it 'A.I. Week," TechSTL executive director Emily Hemingway tells KMOX Newsm adding the summit "is looking at the power of A.I. from so many different perspectives, government, nonprofits, schools, workforce, start-ups. It's definitely the highest-demand event that we have."

"We tripled number of seats that World Wide had. Luckily, America's Center, the only date they had available for the next six weeks was that day, so they were able to squeeze us in since we're moving tickets so fast," she says.

The A.I. Summit starts off a week of tech-related events, including others that are related, like delving into the "Artificial Intelligence of Things" in manufacturing and how to deploy A.I. for non-profits.

STL TechWeek runs from March 31st through April 4th.

Almost as soon as it was announced on Thursday morning, a session on the St. Louis CITY SC soccer franchise using tech to foster an "immersive fan experience" was sold out of the free tickets available.

"They are definitely leading the region" in the use of technology, Hemingway says, calling Energizer Park the "smartest" stadium she's been to.

"What I love is that they've really invested in the fan experience, they've gamified a lot of things, it's interactive, it's engaging, they're using a lot of smart sensors and really smart fintech, you can purchase things on your app," she says.

Hemingway mentioned how CITY SC is "gamifying" parts of the experience. That's a term about how regular tasks done through phones or tablets are being made more game-like to keep people engaged. There's a separate session about just that trend also during STL TechWeek.

"AI is everywhere," KMOX tech reporter Michael Calhoun said. "It is, and you'll see that in all of our sessions," Hemingway responded.
