St. Louis (KMOX) - The St. Louis County Council ethics committee voted to ask for subpoenas of County Executive Dr. Sam Page's employment records from local hospitals.

Page works part-time as an anesthesiologist practicing at Mercy Hospital Systems.

Councilman Tim Fitch believes holding a paid job, even part-time, violates the county charter for Page to devote all his time to his executive duties. He does not believe anyone would have a problem if Page volunteered in order to maintain his certification.

Fitch says he wants the hospital to provide "the work records of Sam Page starting from the date of his appointment as County Executive on a monthly basis.

"That request should include each day that he worked and the number of hours start to finish and if he was compensated for that work," Fitch said.

The full council will have to vote on actually issuing the subpoenas.
