ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A suspect is in custody after allegedly exchanging gunfire with undercover St. Louis police officers and leading them on a chase into downtown.
The shots were fired at Jefferson Avenue and Russell Boulevard, then the pursuit ended three miles away at Pine Stree and Memorial Drive, near the Gateway Arch. The pursuit ended just before 1 p.m. on Wednesday.
The car's left front tire was gone and it was driving on the rim before it came to a halt next to the pedestrian walkway to the Arch.
No one was injured and an investigation is underway.
The officers involved are part of the department's Anti-Crime Task Force.
