NEW BADEN, Ill. (KMOX) - Multiple people were reportedly stung dozens of times by a "large swarm of very aggressive bees" outside a restaurant and florist in Illinois.

The Clinton County Sheriff's Office posted on Facebook about the attack on Sunday at noon and warned people to stay away from the area. They had police, the fire department and EMS on the scene, and estimated it would take at least an hour to contain the swarm.

The swarm struck at the Wooden Mouth restaurant on West Hanover Street where one customer was stung 37 times, according to KMOV. The restaurant said about 30 of its customers were each stung anywhere between three and 10 times.

The restaurant closed early that day and says no one was seriously injured.

Next door, Ahner Florist also said one person was stung by the swarm 20 times. The bee hive was located in a row of trees owned by the florist.

KMOV reports that the situation was calm around 12:30 p.m. Sunday.
