Doctors are saying don't take your phone in the bathroom! It could affect your health.

According to recent studies, phone use in the bathroom has been associated with a 46% increase in the risk of developing hemorrhoids. Dr. Daniel Peyser is a colorectal surgeon at MU Health Care. He says the shape of the toilet leads to blood pooling, so limiting time on the toilet can prevent the hemorrhoids.

"Symptoms of hemorrhoids include things like bleeding, prolapse of tissue, itchiness, sometimes there's discomfort and pain," Peyser says.

If you're taking longer than 3 minutes to go to the bathroom, Dr Payser says you need more fiber in your diet.

"We usually recommend that patients try to get at least 25-30 grams of fiber a day either through diet or fiber supplements."
