After Jeff Roorda was ousted from his position on the St. Louis police union, Mayor Tishaura Jones said it'll improve communication between city officials and police.
"It absolutely helps in our negotiations," she said. "I said it before and I'll say it again: He was not welcome at our negotiating table."
Some officers who are hoping for a new contract with a raise may be wondering if Roorda's absence could help them get what they're looking for. Mayor Jones said there's still more to discuss.
"Again, we're in the middle of negotiations, and they have to come back to the table," she said.
Jones said she doesn't think Roorda's firing was related to her opinoin of him, though Roorda claimed in his exit statement that he was let go to appease the mayor.
