ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - It's time to start gathering your team and preparing for an eight-week scavenger hunt that may take you all across the greater St. Louis area in search of cash.
The Wildlife Command Center St. Louis announced its "Cash Quest" contest will begin on July 1 as teams will search for 12 treasure chests hidden in secret locations around St. Louis. Each small box will have a "Wildlife Command Center" sticker on it and a $100 bill inside. All boxes will be placed inside a plastic bag. If you find a box, you keep the cash.
Since St. Louis is a pretty big place, there will be some hints. A series of 12 YouTube hint videos will be released by the Wildlife Command Center. The first one goes out at 10:02 a.m. on July 1.
If you find 10 of the 12 boxes, you'll have a chance to win the grand prize of $10,000. But if no one finds 10, then the team with the most boxes will get the chance to multiple its winnings by pulling one of 10 envelopes, each containing a one to 10 secret multiplier insider.
The hunt will end on Aug. 31 at 11:59 p.m.
Here are some other rules you'll need to know:
• You must register a team with up to six people
• If you find a treasure chest, you must take a selfie that contains yourself, the treasure chest and the secret hiding spot. You must also take a screenshot of your Google Map or Apple Map location to prove to you found it.
• If/when talking or interacting with strangers, business owners, or community workers, all participants must be polite and respectful
• You'll be disqualified if you break any laws, are caught stealing, trespassing or colluding with other teams
