ST. LOUIS (KMOX) — The man accused of a quadruple homicide in St. Charles is about to stand trial — and prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.

It was December 28, 2018 when Richard Emery's girlfriend, Kate Kaston, was shot to death along with her two children — ages 8 and 10 — and Katson's mother. It happened at a home on Whetstone in St. Charles.

The suspect later attempted to carjack a woman, stabbing her seven times, but she survived. Emery was captured the following day.

Jury selection began two weeks ago, and the trial is now ready to begin. KMOX will have updates on this story as they come.
