Three people were killed when a Greyhound bus smashed into three 18 wheelers parked at the Silver Lake rest stop.

One of the drivers of the 18 wheelers, David, was fast asleep when it happened. He jumped into action, grabbing a fire extinguisher. "It was an axle fire. It was right over the motor and that fuel tank we had to put it out," Dave says. "They'dve burned to death in that damn thing."
"And there was a big pregnant lady...got her out the window."

The bus was traveling from Indianapolis when it smashed into the semis at a Highland, Illinois rest area on Interstate-70. Illinois State Police say it happened at the Silver Lake Rest Area in Madison County just before 2 o'clock. The bus was going west on I-70 when it struck three parked semis on the exit ramp of the rest area. Three were killed and at least 14 others were rushed to the hospital.
Illinois State police tell KMOX the investigation into the crash is going to continue for awhile.

Greyhound Statement:
"We can confirm an incident occurred this morninginvolving Greyhound schedule number 1675 traveling from Indianapolis to St. Louis. Multiple passengers, including our driver, have been transported to the hospital. Our primary concern is ensuring we care for our passengers and driver at this time. We are working closely with local authorities and a relief bus is on the way for passengers."
NTSB Statement:
The NTSB, in coordination with the Illinois State Police, is sending a team to conduct a safety investigation into Wednesday's multivehicle crash involving a Greyhound motorcoach and three truck tractor-trailer combination units on Interstate 70 near Highland, Illinois.
