'Unacceptable' public comments at St. Louis County Council meeting

Public comment period features many making disparaging remarks about council members in opposing mask and vaccine mandates

St. Louis (KMOX) -- The public comment period at the St. Louis County Council meeting drew a smaller than recent crowd Tuesday night. Most spoke against vaccine and mask mandates.

Several speakers, however, made disparaging remarks about council members, which drew a response from some of them.

Shalonda Webb called the comments "unacceptable" and asked for human decency. The vitriol and insults has slowly been increasing recently, and Webb's was not the only admonition to the speakers.

The Council did not bring up the new mask mandate during the meeting.
