ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Mauricio Pochettino will make his home debut as head coach of the United States Men's National Team (USMNT) right here in St. Louis in November.
On Monday, U.S. Soccer announced CITYPARK will host the USMNT quarterfinal home leg in the CONCACAF Nations League on Nov. 18.
The match will mark the home debut of former Tottenham, Southampton Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain manager Pochettino as head coach for the USMNT. Pochettino officially became head coach on Sept. 10, replacing Gregg Berhalter.
"I am aware of the big soccer history of St. Louis and its impact on the National Team, so the new members of the staff are looking forward to visiting the city for ourselves and experiencing the atmosphere at the stadium," said Pochettino in a release from U.S. Soccer.
The USMNT's opponent will be determined following the October international window. The top four teams in the CONCACAF Ranking Index enter the Nations League at the two-legged home-and-away quarterfinal stage, while 12 other countries will compete for the remaining four berths in the group stage played during the September and October international windows.
It will be the USA’s third trip to the home of St. Louis City SC following two dominant shutout victories in its first two visits.
Historically, the U.S. has won eight matches, drawn three and only lost one match in St. Louis, a city which has also served as a hotbed for sending talent to the USMNT, with the likes of Norwich City striker Josh Sargent, Columbus Crew goalkeeper Patrick Schulte and former Fulham FC center back Tim Ream being the most recent examples.
Sargent expressed excitement of potentially playing in his hometown in a post from U.S. Soccer on their X, formerly known as Twitter account.
Kickoff at CITYPARK is set for 7 p.m. and the match will be broadcast on TNT, truTV, Universo, Max and Peacock, as well as FDP Radio.
Presale for the CONCACAF Nation’s League match in St. Louis will begin on Monday, Sept. 23 at 9 a.m. Tickets for the general public will go on sale on Friday, Sept. 27 at 9 a.m.
