JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. (KMOX) - A woman from Memphis has been charged in an apparent road rage incident after police say she fired shots into a vehicle with a family of six people inside on Interstate 55 just south of St. Louis. One victim inside the vehicle was shot in the hip.

Charges have been filed against Shanyka Fouche, 22, of Memphis for the incident on Friday afternoon that took place about 30 miles south of St. Louis. She's facing 10 charges from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, including first-degree assault, endangering the welfare of a child and unlawful use of a weapon.

She fired shots from the passenger side of a vehicle, being driven by another woman who was also arrested, police say. Fouche's two-year-old child was also in the car, police say. Three shots were fired at another vehicle that had a family of six inside, including four children. An adult male was shot in the hip.

The family was from Tennessee and on its way to Kansas City for vacation when the vehicle Fouche was in was tailgating them, so the driver tapped the brakes, according to reports. Police say the suspect's vehicle pulled up alongside the victims and fired.

Fouche is being held at the Jefferson County Jail on no bond and faces two counts of first-degree assault, five counts of endangering the welfare of a child, unlawful use of a weapon and two counts of armed criminal action.
