SAINT LOUIS, MO (KMOX) - People hire Nannies to provide one-on-one attention for their children. Now a St. Louis area woman is offering to be that companion for your aging loved one. "I like to describe it as professional granddaughter energy," explains Taylor Young, Owner of Golden Hour Companionship.

Young is a certified dementia-care practitioner and has a chauffer's license.

She previously worked in senior living communities as an activities director, but found it difficult to meaningfully engage with 20 people at the same time. Now Young provides one-one-one socialization. She describes it as being a Grand-Nanny. "They get to see a companionship caregiver and everything changes. The become more open. They become excited. It's a wonderful thing to see."

Young spends 2 to 8 hours a week with each client, taking walks, cooking together, gardening, helping with light tasks, and providing transportation to appointments. "They still need what we need in our daily lives which is socialization, which is seeing our friends... ...it's making a life that is quality."
