Less than two years after it's inception, Harris-Stowe University's Geospatial Intelligence program was accredited by the The United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation in June.

This makes Harris-Stowe one of only 25 universities across the United States and one of only 3 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (or H.B.C.U.'s) to have an accredited program.

Freddie Wills Jr., Vice President of STEM Initiatives at Harris-Stowe, said the accreditation not only puts the University on the map, but will put certified Missouri students on the map as well.

The accreditation comes after a contract between Boeing and the Pentagon that was announced last week, which kicked off the conversion of existing long-range bombs into precision-guided bombs at the Boeing facility in St. Charles. Wills Jr. said the contract highlights the demand for professionals in this field, especially in St. Louis.
