WEBSTER GROVES - (KMOX) First Congregational Church of Webster Groves, affiliated with the United Church of Christ, has stepped up to help Mayfield Kentucky rebuild following December's tornadoes.
First Congregational Church is asking everyone, not only church members to take part in International Day of Awareness this Thursday, March 10th, by donating money to Mayfield, Kentucky.
Church congregate Rodney Cooper, grew up in Kentucky and wanted to do something to help Mayfield. Cooper says the entire St. Louis Metro region will be able to donate money because that's what Mayfield needs to rebuild.
Retired Reverend Jan Barnes says the EF 4 tornado decimated Mayfield, the town of 12-thousand. "If you were to see the devastation, the huge piles of rubble, and what not, on every street corner, you would realize what an incredible task this is" and how the people of Mayfield are committed to it.
Ryan Drane is Mayfield's Executive Director of the Long-Term Recovery group and he tells KMOX, their efforts are going to case management teams. "Those case managers will go and be assigned to survivors and their families specifically, and they will walk with them through the entire recovery process."

First Congregational members believe this is their way of giving back to Mayfield, because cleanup and resources are limited and recovery has been slow.
