Nearly two dozen people are recovering after a vehicle crashed into a Denny's restaurant in Texas.
The incident happened late Monday morning. According to police, the vehicle plowed through the side of the Denny's in Rosenberg, just outside of Houston.
A total of 23 people were injured, according to Rosenberg Police.
"The injuries ranged from minor lacerations to severe injuries, but all appear to be non-life threatening," police said in a statement. "All injured parties were conscious at the time they were transported to local hospitals."
The male driver was not injured in the accident and as of now, has not been arrested.
Police shared photos of the crash on social media, one of which shows a red SUV completely inside the restaurant with debris from the wall and windows scattered about.
Roy Rodriguez told KRIV he and his wife were enjoying a meal when an SUV crashed through the dining area. Rodriguez ended up trapped under a table while his wife was stuck in a booth.
"I heard a bang bang. I said somebody's shooting in here, and all of a sudden everything was on the table, the car was right there, right next to us," he told the station. "Someone came and helped my wife; she couldn't get out, and they had to get me out because there was stuff down there. I couldn't clear my feet."
Both Rodriguez and his wife suffered deep cuts; he required stitches while she suffered a broken leg.
Yesinia Aguinaga, who was not injured in the crash, told KHOU the scene inside the dining room was chaotic.
"There were kids screaming and crying, and the scariest thing was seeing everyone bleeding from all over, and then a man squished underneath a table," she said.
A cause of the accident remains under investigation.
