The Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Police Department shared on Wednesday morning that three of its officers have been injured in a shooting.
“Three officers have been injured. All three suffered non-life threatening injuries,” the department wrote in a post on X.
As of Wednesday at 9:45 a.m. the shooting remained active in the eastern part of the city.
The officers who were injured suffered gunshot wounds and were removed from the area and given medical attention.
“This remains an active scene and for your safety, we ask that you stay away from the area,” the Metropolitan Police Department added.
