CHESTER SPRINGS, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — After being shot between his eyes, Arthur the corgi is making a recovery at a Chester County animal rescue, and the Pennsylvania SPCA is taking donations to help Arthur and other victims of animal cruelty.
Arthur, who is 8 years old, escaped and crawled under a fence to get to a Lancaster County family farm in mid-July.
It was first thought the corgi suffered a head injury from a fence, but workers at Main Line Animal Rescue in Chester Springs discovered debris in his wound. The PSPCA said workers later discovered that it came from a bullet that barely missed his brain.
PSPCA Director of Public Relations & Marketing Gillian Kocher said Arthur is on the mend, and being cared for at Main Line Animal Rescue.
“His recovery is going very well. He is the happiest little boy,” said Kocher.
“Ultimately we are hoping to find him a loving forever home. I’m sure there will certainly be people lined up for him, but for right now we are still watching him to make sure that the bullet fragments in his face are not going to cause him any additional problems.”
The PSPCA’s Humane Law Enforcement is looking for the person or people responsible for the act of animal cruelty.
The PSPCA is accepting donations for Arthur’s medical care, and for animals like him.
“Terrible things do happen, but there are wonderful people out there who support our lifesaving mission, and we’ll be here until hopefully one day we won’t have to do this work anymore,” said Kocher.
