Brett Favre asks parent to keep kids from playing tackle football before age 14

Pro football Hall of Famer Brett Favre says no one should play tackle football before age 14.

In a new public service announcement posted yesterday, Favre makes clear the long-term effects of repeated blows to the head such as football players receive.

Favre says chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) "is a terrible disease, and we need to do everything we can to prevent it for the next generation of football players."

Retiring after the 2010 season, Favre was asked to return to the NFL to play for the LA Rams. But he turned down the offer, saying he was suffering from memory loss and feared it might have been due to the multiple concussions he suffered in his career.
