A Chicago firefighter who was allegedly moonlighting as a pimp is facing felony charges after authorities discovered he's been running an apparent prostitution business from his apartment.
Brendan Kennedy-Gasior, 37, was released on Friday on a $500 bond, one day after he was taken into custody and charged with promoting prostitution, the Chicago Sun Times reported, citing court documents.
Kennedy-Gasior was placed on paid administrative leave until a ruling is made in the case.
"These are very serious allegations and do not reflect the standards of conduct expected of our members," fire department spokesman Larry Langford told the Sun Times.
The allegations against Kennedy-Gasior stretch back to 2020, according to WFLD. A 23-year-old Denver woman went to police and said Kennedy-Gasior had paid her to perform at least 50 "erotic massages" and sexual favors on various people in his apartment, in the city's North Park neighborhood. The woman claimed that the firefighter-turned-pimp told her to charge $150 per half hour session and $200 for an hour, and that he took half of the money she earned, WFLD reported.
To find clients, Kennedy-Gasior allegedly placed ads on adult websites, including Adultlook and Adultsearch, with a phone number to call to set up appointments, according to WFLD. The "sessions" took place inside Kennedy-Gasior's apartment while he was present, the report added.
According to CBS News, the charge against Kennedy-Gasior could be upgraded because he lives within 1,000 feet of a school.
Kennedy-Gasior has been with the fire department since 2019. He works as an engineer, operating a fire engine, and was on non-duty medical leave at the time of his arrest, the Sun Times reported.
Kennedy-Gasior is due back in court on April 14.
