The effects of the recent trade policies and tariffs are trickling down in surprising ways. One of which is a potential rise in funeral and burial costs.

Bishop Ryan Warner with Professional Funeral Services says, though nothing is definitive yet, the writing may be on the wall that funeral and burial costs will rise, putting more of a toll on families at a delicate time.

He says this comes down to the cost of materials.

"The liquids used in the process [of embalming] that come from other countries is a concern for the near future."

Warner also says that the materials used for caskets and decorative embellishments being subject to tariff will also cause a price surge there.

He says, as of now, things are unchanged.

"There is usually some time between a policy change or tariff implementation and when you start to feel the effects throughout the industry."

Unfortunately, Warner and his family will have to discuss pricing changes and how that will impact the clientele.

"Some costs will be passed on to families that need to bury their loved ones," says Warner.
