In response to the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, one CEO is offering care to their employees nationwide.

Lauren Hobart, president and CEO of DICK’s Sporting Goods, took to her LinkedIn page to address the SCOTUS decision. She says that if anyone is in a state that restrict access to abortion, the company will reimburse them up to $4,000 for travel.
“In response to today’s ruling, we are announcing that if a state one of our teammates lives in restricts access to abortion, DICK’S Sporting Goods will provide up to $4,000 in travel expense reimbursement to travel to the nearest location where that care is legally available. This benefit will be provided to any teammate, spouse or dependent enrolled in our medical plan, along with one support person,” Hobart said.
“We recognize people feel passionately about this topic -- and that there are teammates and athletes who will not agree with this decision. However, we also recognize that decisions involving health and families are deeply personal and made with thoughtful consideration.”
In Pennsylvania, the current abortion rights will not change at this time. PA Governor Tom Wolf has already said that as long as he is in office, PA’s abortion rules will remain the same.
November’s election will have big implications on those rights, as (R) Doug Mastriano is pro-life, as his opponent, (D) Josh Shapiro is pro-choice.
According to the Washington Post, 13 states will soon ban abortion. Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, North and South Dakota, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee and Kentucky will reportedly designate a “trigger ban” within 30 days.
