The Supreme Court struck down a law Thursday that would require people to demonstrate a specific need to carry a gun. The Supreme Court decided the New York law violated people's Second Amendment rights. The news came as a win for anti-gun control advocates.
The Associated Press reports that though the decision wasn't a surprise necessarily, some were surprised by the fact that there was no documented research used to back the decision up.
Missouri Attorney General and U.S. Senate candidate Eric Schmitt was glad to hear the news.
"We'll never back down," he said. "We're upholding the original intent of the Second Amendment in striking down New York's oppressive and unconstitutional permitting regime."
