Finding out your favorite Netflix show was canceled and not renewed for another season can be devastating, especially after fans invested hours of their lives into watching the program.

Fans of Julie and the Phantoms were very upset about the musical comedy-drama not getting renewed for a second season, so they started a full blown campaign to save the show.

The campaign includes an online petition, billboards, and even marquees at cinemas and theaters promoting the show to be saved.

As of Feb. 28, 176,968 people have signed the Change.org petition that was started in December 2020 to try and get a second season of the show.

"We want season 2 of Julie and the Phantoms... This show has brought so many people so much happiness and has inspired so many to follow their dreams. We all really want to see more of this amazing show, cast and crew," the petition said.

There have been additional support on social media like Twitter and Instagram using #wewantseason2jatp, #savejatp, and #SAVEJULIEANDTHEPHANTOMS.

Julie and the Phantoms aired on Sept. 10, 2020, with nine episodes in season one. The show received a ton of fan praise, earning a 8.5/10 rating on IMDb and a 93% Rotten Tomatoes score. However, it was eventually cancelled in December 2021.

It was even nominated for 11 different Daytime Emmy Awards in 2021, winning three different categories. Creators Dan Cross and Dan Hoge's show won "Outstanding Original Song," "Outstanding Multiple Camera Editing for a Drama or Daytime Fiction Program," "Outstanding Costume Design/Styling for a Drama or Daytime Fiction Program."

Additionally, it won "Best Musical Moment" at the 2021 MTV and TV Awards, the "Fan Favorite TV Series 2020" at the 2021 Golden Tomato Awards, and four different categories at the 2021 Tell-Tale TV Awards.

It's unclear if any other streaming company is interested in picking up the show and bringing it back for a second season, but it's happened before in the business. For example, Fox canceled the TV show Brooklyn Nine-Nine in 2018 after five seasons and after online petitions, was picked up soon after by NBC. They eventually ran three more seasons of the show, giving fans what they wanted, until it officially ended in 2021.
