ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The FDA has approved a drug to treat severe food allergies -- including milk, eggs and nuts.
The drug Zolair was approved by the FDA to help reduce severe allergic reactions brought on by an accidental exposure to certain foods.
Dr. James Wedner, a professor of medicine and director of the Asthma and Allergy Center at Washington University School of Medicine, says this drug -- when taken regularly -- will help reduce the health impact if accidental exposure occurs.
"We are hoping that if they inadvertently get into a food that they have an allergic reaction too, they won't have a reaction."
