(WWJ) – Next month one of the most famous former mobsters is coming to share his story in Metro Detroit.
Michael Franzese, now a motivational speaker, will appear at the Andiamo Celebrity Showroom in Warren on Feb. 18. He tells WWJ’s Erin Vee he’ll share his experiences in how he became a “made man” – and how he got out of the mob – and hold a Q&A session with the audience.
One question he’s certain he’ll be asked: “Where is Jimmy Hoffa?”
“I get asked that question on every single Q&A all around the world,” Franzese said.
But those in Metro Detroit will be even more curious to see what he knows about Hoffa, who was last seen at the Machus Red Fox restaurant in Bloomfield Township, where he was supposed to meet with two mobsters as he tried to regain power within the Teamsters union.
And while a dig for Hoffa’s body – like many before it – last summer under a New Jersey overpass came up empty, Franzese says he may be in the works of making a break in the case.
“Someone recently got in touch with me – I’m not gonna mention his name yet, because I’m doing some real investigation on him – who claims he was present when Jimmy Hoffa was killed and gave the exact spot of where he was,” Franzes said in an interview on WWJ.
Of course we’ve heard this before, Franzese says, but he expects this story to make its way to the headlines “in a little bit.”
“A fella came out of prison and told me a story that was relayed to him from another guy in prison doing life that I happen to know. It was all about Jimmy Hoffa and what happened to him,” Franzese said.”
He told that person to record his story on tape, “because it sounds very authentic what you’re saying, but unless somebody uncovers the body, it’s just another story.”
Franzese said he told them he’s not going “make any noise without having any solid evidence.” But just a couple weeks ago the other person reached out to him and told him a story that “corresponds or complements what I already know that I have on tape.”
“So I’m gonna be investigating it,” he said. “I know some of the information I have is accurate and maybe we’ll get some closure for the family on this, if it turns out to be true.”
Tickets to see Franzese speak in Warren are available on the Andiamo Showroom website, starting at $35. VIP tickets for $128 include a meet-and-greet and a signed copy of his new book, “Mafia Democracy.”
