Tropical Storm Hilary brought record rainfall to Southern California, but did it really leave Dodger Stadium looking like an island?

You might have seen photos and video of Dodger Stadium completely surrounded by water during the storm -- but it turns out they weren't real.

Well actually, the footage is real but it's an optical illusion, with the reflection from a wet parking lot making it look like the stadium had become an island surrounded by floodwater brought on by Hilary's record-setting rainfall.

The images went viral, with many people describing the stadium an "island" and calling it "Lake Dodger Stadium."

Steve Brener, a spokesperson for the Dodgers, told the Associated Press that the stadium was not flooded. In fact, Dodger Stadium is built at the top of an incline - so it would take a flood of truly epic proportions to fill it.

The team even posted about the "flooding" on Monday, sharing pictures of a dry parking lot and saying the stadium "looks beautiful."

Hilary was the first tropical storm to hit Southern California in 84 years.
