Today is a delicious celebration of one of the most beloved desserts in the world -- it's National Pie Day!

Whether you prefer fruit-filled, cream-based or even savory pies, January 23 is the perfect excuse to indulge in a slice (or two) of your favorite variety.

National Pie Day was founded by the American Pie Council in 1986 to celebrate both the iconic dessert and Crisco's 75th anniversary of providing families with quality ingredients for baking. Since then, the day has evolved into a nationwide celebration of pies in all their forms, bringing joy to bakers and pie lovers alike.

From flaky crusts to decadent fillings, National Pie Day honors the timeless comfort and joy that a well-made pie can bring to any table.

When it comes to pie, Americans have some clear favorites, according to National Day Calendar.

The classic apple pie takes the top spot, with 37% of people choosing it as their go-to flavor.

Next up is the rich and nutty pecan pie at 16%, followed by cherry pie with a strong 14%, and blueberry pie at 9%.

The remaining 24% falls to a variety of other flavors, proving that there's a pie for everyone, no matter your taste.

Pie lovers, rejoice! There are not one, but two days each year dedicated to celebrating this beloved treat: National Pie Day on January 23 and Pi Day on March 14. It's a double dose of deliciousness for anyone who loves a good slice!
