NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – Move over chicken parm, KFC’s take on the pizza—the “Chizza”—will debut at a pop-up in America’s pizza capital of New York City this week before a nationwide rollout next week.
The Chizza (pronounced cheet-za) features two KFC fried chicken filets topped with marinara sauce, mozzarella cheese and pepperoni.
The pizza-chicken fusion menu item has been a hit for KFC in other markets for years. Since debuting in the Philippines in 2015, it has been introduced in South Korea, Taiwan, India, Thailand, Germany, Spain and Mexico, among other countries.

“Fried chicken and pizza collaborated to create something even better – the Chizza,” said Nick Chaves, KFC’s chief marketing officer in the U.S. “The fan-favorite mashup is finally available in the U.S. after making its way around the world – try it while you can!”
To celebrate the Chizza’s arrival stateside, later this week KFC will transform its restaurant at 242 East 14th St. in the East Village into a “Chizzeria” pop-up—described by KFC as a “KFC-ified, modern take on a classic pizzeria.”
The pop-up will offer one free Chizza per customer from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 23, and Saturday, Feb. 24.
The Chizza will then be available in the rest of the U.S. starting Monday.
