There's quite a bit of bad blood going on between brothers lately. Two men in different parts of the country were stabbed by their brothers recently, one over $10 and the other for "talking over food."
In Indiana, 21-year-old Caleb Xavier Ingram has been charged with murder after allegedly stabbing his brother to death over $10.
Police responded to a stabbing at a home about 40 miles outside Indianapolis just before midnight on Oct. 30 and found Ingram covered in blood and his 22-year-old brother with a knife wound on his neck, according to court documents obtained by WXIN.
His brother was rushed to the hospital but died from his injuries. Ingram was also taken to the hospital for possible treatment due to the "large amount of blood on him," but doctors quickly determined he had no injuries and that the blood wasn't his, the report said.
Body camera footage from officers who initially responded to the scene shows that Ingram claimed his brother "spent some money that [Caleb Ingram] was going to spend on [his] girlfriend," WXIN reported.
"I just took it to heart," he added, per the report.
Ingram made similar statements inside the patrol car, while talking to himself alone.
"I've got a future, I can't go to jail," he said, WXIN reported. "Ten dollars, you're going to get mad at him for 10 dollars?"
The men's parents told police that the two had never gotten into a physical altercation until that day.
Ingram is now charged with murder and is being held without bond.
Meantime in Florida, 20-year-old Alexander Rodriguez has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing his brother in the neck for "talking over" the food he was cooking.
Rodriguez was in the kitchen with his brother at their home in Miami when an argument broke out, during which he grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed his brother in the neck, according to an arrest report obtained by WTVJ.
Rodriguez also allegedly followed his brother to his bedroom, where he slashed his arm and face before he fled the scene, the report said.
The brother was transported to the hospital in stable condition. After a quick search, police found Rodriguez hiding in a tree nearby and placed him under arrest. WTVJ noted that Rodriguez had an injury to his right ear that was wrapped in bandage prior to police arriving, though it wasn't clear how he sustained the injury.
When detectives interviewed Rodriguez, he told him that he was irritated because his brother was "talking over the food" he was cooking, WFLA reported. He also told police that he thought his brother was going to grab the knife first because of his "attitude."
Rodriguez is now facing charges of attempted murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
