ST. LOUIS- In June 2023, the Supreme Court ruled to significantly limit the use of race when it came to college admissions, banning schools to consider an applicants race as a status or category when applying to a college.
However, that ruling did not apply to military academies, as academies such the Naval Academy and West Point are still able to apply affirmative action.
The court says military institutions were not added due to 'potentially distinct interest.'
Dr. Larry Hanser, Rand Corp Senior Behavioral Scientist joined Total Information A.M. talking if Military Academies should still be able to use race-conscious admissions.
