Hundreds of people marched in Downtown L.A. Wednesday to commemorate what they called International Migrants Day.

The 250-plus demonstrators, janitors, agricultural workers, service employees, and educators marched from the El Pueblo monument to the base of the L.A. Federal Building, voicing their concerns about what might happen to immigrants when the Trump Administration takes over in January.

Protesters carried signs reading 'No ICE in L.A.,' a reference to potential mass deportations that many fear are coming under the new Trump administration.

Ben Magana, a union worker, said immigrants, legal or not, play a crucial role in this country and should be respected for what they do.

"The message is that immigrants fight for our rights, and we're not going to be intimidated by anybody who wants to come after us," Magana said.

Among the demonstrators was Denisha Jordan, a teacher who says she sees concern and fear on the faces of students she teaches every day.

"We have undocumented students, but we also have undocumented families," Jordan told KNX News' Pete Demetriou. "That should be the last thing that they have to worry about, their families being divided."

Teachers union participants made it clear to the crowd that the last thing they wanted to see was immigration and customs enforcement agents coming to schools, and they vowed the schools would remain a place of refuge for all students.
