NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – Officers kept a stabbing victim alive with an empty potato chip bag and tape, the NYPD said.

Police Commissioner Dermot Shea tweeted video Friday showing police jumping into action to save the man in Harlem on July 7.

Police said officers received a call about a man stabbed in front of 290 Lenox Ave.

When cops arrived, Officer Ronald Kennedy “took charge and saved the victim’s life by using an empty bag of potato chips and tape,” police said.

In the video, the officer can be seen emptying a bag of chips and telling a bystander to go into a store and get him tape. He then applies the bag to the wound on the victim’s chest.

A physician at Harlem Hospital said the actions of the officer “saved the victim’s life,” police said.
