People reportedly stranded on rides for hours during widespread power outage at Magic Kingdom

Disney World's Magic Kingdom, famously known as the happiest place on Earth, turned into a scene of confusion and frustration Monday evening as a massive power outage shut down nearly every ride and attraction, leaving some guests reportedly stranded for hours.

According to WDW News, a website dedicated to updates on Disney parks across the country, the entire park experienced power failures hours before it was set to close, affecting both rides and shows.

A quick check of the My Disney Experience app confirmed that at least 18 different attractions, including Space Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean, were listed as "Temporarily Closed" for hours, per the report.

Visitors also noted that every attraction in Frontierland was shut down, with Country Bear Musical Jamboree and Tiana's Bayou Adventure left inoperable. Meanwhile, all of Fantasyland, including favorites such as It's a Small World and Peter Pan's Flight, was also hit with closures.

A handful of rides still operating during the outage were limited, but they offered little reprieve to guests looking for an escape from the frustration as wait times soared. These included Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor, Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover, Haunted Mansion and Jungle Cruise. The TRON Lightcycle/Run and Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin also remained operational, but it was hardly a substitute for the usual Magic Kingdom magic.

During the outage, the number of guests were reportedly trapped on rides for long stretches. Those caught mid-ride had no way of knowing when they would be rescued, and the uncertainty left many feeling anxious and irritated.

As guests waited for updates, they turned to social media to express their frustration. One X user wrote that her brother was at the park when "everything just stopped."

"People are stuck in rides everywhere & all the lights inside the rides are on. He said it's pandemonium in the streets at the magic kingdom," they posted.

Disney officials have not yet commented on the exact cause of the outage.

The power was eventually restored and rides were up and running again by Tuesday morning.
