CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A video that shows a former Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen employee trashing his old restaurant in Rogers Park has gone viral on TikTok.

The caption at the start of the video said: "This is what happens when you don't get paid for a month."

Although music mostly covers the sound, viewers can see the man dumping raw chicken and fries all over the kitchen. The end the video shows an open and empty cash register. The video can be found here.

“At least he got his money,” the caption reads.

Several people speculated in the comments that the man in the video will likely now have to pay for the damage caused and captured on video. Others empathized with the man.

A statement from Chicago police read: “A known male offender entered a business and became aggressive and irate. The offender then produced a knife and damaged items within and outside of the business. The offender also took an unknown amount of U.S. currency from the registers and from a 22-year-old female's bag.”

Someone with the account name “whatever whatever” commented that the restaurant shown in the video was their “neighborhood Popeyes.”

“I’ll still be back for the potatoes,” they wrote.
