New information has now been shared about the amount of ammunition Uvalde, Texas school shooter Salvador Ramos had on him when he entered Robb Elementary School on Tuesday.

A law enforcement source told CBS News Thursday that Ramos entered the school with seven loaded magazines which equates to 210 rounds or 30 rounds to each magazine.

In addition Ramos had more than 15 additional magazines in a backpack which would translate to another 450 rounds.

The source told CBS that Ramos dropped, or somehow lost control of the backpack that had the extra ammunition limiting him to roughly 210 rounds.

To put it in perspective, the source tells CBS that the amount of ammunition that Ramos brought with him is “double what an average U.S. Soldier would go into basic combat with.”

Law enforcement is now saying it is clear Ramos was planning on a massive gun battle. It is unclear at this point how many rounds Ramos actually fired during the shooting spree and law enforcement is only saying that the investigation is continuing.

The shooting has left 21 people dead, 19 students and two teachers, with an additional 17 more injured.
