WILDWOOD, Mo (KMOX) - The city of Wildwood is joining Eureka and Ballwin in helping local bars and restaurants survive the pandemic by waving liquor license fees.

The Wildwood City Council voted this week to refund 2020 fees and waive the fees for 2021. It will save each establishment $750 a year.

The move is expected to cost the city $19,000 in lost revenue. The Wildwood budget is $16 million.

Eureka was first to take the step last month, in hopes that other municipalities would follow suit. Ballwin followed about a week later with the same refund.

Eureka Mayor Sean Flower said the refund will save some businesses about $1,500 in fees.
