Another day, another shortage.

In an announcement that's sure to send spice fanatics straight to the grocery store in search of their favorite hot sauce, the maker of Sriracha says a shortage is in full effect -- and it's expected to last throughout the summer.

Huy Fong Foods, the California-based manufacturer of the popular condiment, has revealed it's been suffering from a chili pepper shortage since July 2020. Since then, the situation has only gotten worse.

"Due to weather conditions affecting the quality of chili peppers, we now face a more severe shortage of chili. Unfortunately, this is out of our control and without this essential ingredient we are unable to produce any of our products," the company said in a letter to grocery stores.

The company explained in its letter that it stopped fulfilling orders on April 19 and won't take any new orders until after Labor Day, September 6.

"We understand that this may cause issues. However, during this time we will not accept any new orders to be placed before September as we will not have enough inventory to fulfill your order," the company said.

In addition to Sriracha, other products impacted by the shortage include Huy Fong's Chili Garlic Sauce and Sambal Oelek chili paste.

According to NBC News, Huy Fong Foods sources its chili peppers from Mexico, which is currently experiencing a drought.
