These are the governors who were elected this week

In addition to the presidential election and congressional races, votes in 11 states decided gubernatorial races this week.

According to the Center on the American Governor, eight of those races were “open,” meaning that they did not have an incumbent candidate. Typically, incumbent candidates win gubernatorial elections.

Two of these races are expected to be the most closely watched of the cycle: New Hampshire, in which Governor Chris Sununu (R) announced he would not seek a second term, and North Carolina, where Governor Roy Cooper (D) is term-limited,” said the center. “Both races represent “pickup” opportunities, with Democrats hoping to win the New Hampshire governorship and Republicans hoping to recapture the seat in North Carolina.”

As it turns out, neither party was able to flip those states. Here are the gubernatorial results as of 1 a.m. ET Wednesday, per the Associated Press. Percentages found via Ballotpedia.
